“You’re not ready for What’s Next on Netflix India in 2025!” says Netflix VP at star-spangled event

Netflix India had a massive Slate Announcement, unveiling an exciting and diverse lineup for 2025 on Febriary 3 at the J.W. Marriott. Monika Shergill, Vice-President, Content, Netflix India, said, “In 2025, we are redefining storytelling by pushing creative boundaries like never before, delivering an unparalleled variety of world-class entertainment. From dreamy romcoms and high-stakes dramas to action-packed thrillers, beloved fan-favorite franchises, and laugh-out-loud comedies, there’s something for everyone.”

She added, “Collaborating with India’s most celebrated storytellers and fresh voices, we are bringing this dynamic slate to life. With over 700 million viewers, we refuse to be just one thing—we strive to be the best at everything. And no matter what you’re expecting, you’ll never be fully prepared for what’s next on Netflix. We don’t want to be just the most successful platform but also the one most loved! And my entire Netflix team shares my passion.”

She went on, “Looking back, 2024 was a groundbreaking year for Netflix India — and we are ramping up 2025 to bring something for everyone, with even more variety and excitement. With a focus on telling homegrown stories and pushing creative boundaries, our commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality entertainment remains steadfast. Each series or film is thoughtfully crafted to reflect the cultural richness and authenticity that resonate deeply with audiences at home, while also engaging global viewers with universal themes.”

The Netflix 2025 slate promises a rich and varied lineup, from gripping dramas and thrilling heists to heartwarming rom-coms and adrenaline-pumping action. Shergill stressed, “We are proud to deepen our partnerships with India’s top creative talent, from YRF Entertainment, Dharmatic Entertainment and more while introducing new voices, all aimed at delivering the diversity and quality of storytelling that defines Netflix.” The show was ably anchored by Maniesh Paul and Sumukhi Suresh.

High-octane productions

Tentpole projects like Aryan Khan’s Bollywood-themed series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood (pronounced as The Bads of Bollywood), and Siddharth Anand’s drama, Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, bring scale and excitement. Meanwhile, Akka, a YRF production, is a gripping tale of powerful sisterhood, driven by chaos, violence and the fight for survival.

Romantic comedies reimagined

India adores love stories, and in 2025, Aap Jaisa Koi, The Royals and Nadaaniyan infuse timeless romantic themes with a contemporary twist, while Dhoom Dhaam (releasing February 14) brings comedy into the romance.

South originals

Distinct offerings from South India tell compelling stories, including Test, a Tamil cricket drama starring Nayanthara, R. Madhavan and Siddharth, and there is also Super Subbu, a Telugu comedy-drama series that explores purpose and love in unexpected places.

Comedy offerings

Comedy remains a core focus in 2025, with fan favorites like The Great Indian Kapil Show returning for a third season and Vir Das Fool Volume headlined by the Emmy-winning star. To bring even more laughs, there is Toaster, an offbeat comedy with a sharp and unconventional take on modern life, produced by actor Patralekhaa, Rajkummar Rao’s wide.

Crime and action

Crime and action take centerstage in these narratives, each offering a unique take on high-stakes storytelling:. Mandala Murders weaves mystical undertones into a mystery, while Dabba Cartel is a thriller that reimagines power and agency from a new perspective. Glory blends crime into a family’s fierce pursuit of an Olympic medal. Meanwhile, Saare Jahan Se Accha presents a 1970s spy thriller, inspired by history, that celebrates India’s unsung heroes.

Returning favorites

Beloved series such as Khakee, Rana Naidu and Kohrra in Season 2 and Delhi Crime (Season 3) return bigger with gripping new storylines and fresh perspectives. Whether it’s chasing a drug lord across Bengal (Khakee: The Bengal Chapter), exploring underworld dynamics, or uncovering a global human trafficking racket, these series plan to set new benchmarks for excellence.

Meeting the pulse of modern viewers

This year, Netflix is kicking off with the Oscar-nominated short film Anuja, a heartwarming tale of sisterhood. On a completely different spectrum, is an exclusive glimpse into the Kapoor family, where their love for food and cinema comes alive in Dining With The Kapoors.

Delivering blockbuster entertainment

Rounding off this exceptional slate are theatrical films making their way to Netflix India. These films come from some of the industry’s most celebrated creators, including Ajay Devgn Ffilms, Dharma Productions, Luv Films, Maddock Films, Roy Kapur Films, Salman Khan’s SKF and T-Series. Complementing this is a robust South slate to our members, featuring the finest talent from Tamil and Telugu cinema, with nine films in each language. This vibrant lineup spans actioners, thrillers and dramas, featuring legendary stars such as Kamal Haasan, Ajith Kumar, Suriya, Vijay Deverakonda and Pawan Kalyan.

Says Netflix, “And it doesn’t stop here — get ready for an unparalleled thrill and adrenaline rush as WWE takes it up a notch this year! Experience epic showdowns, fierce rivalries, and jaw-dropping action from RAW, NXT, SmackDown, and Premium Live Events that have made WWE a cultural phenomenon in India — now with a Hindi commentary.”

The event was attended by the cast and principal crew of the above films and series. Toplined in the heady climax by the appearance of Shah Rukh Khan as he introduced his son Aryan Khan’s directorial, The Bads of Bollywood (Aryan, Suhana and Gauri Khan were present at the venue but did not make an appearance), the star-spangled list included Kapil Sharma, Saif Ali Khan, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, R. Madhavan, Siddharth, Arjun Rampal. Venkatesh, Prosenjit, Jeet (a Bengali top star for 22 years), Pratik Gandhi, Ishaan Khattra, Rajkummar Rao, Krushna Abhishek, Divvyendu, Pulkit Samrat, Ritwik Bhowmik, Barun Sobti, Upendra Limaye, Saswata Chatterjee, Rajesh Tailang, Sunil Grover, Rajiv Thakur and Kiku Sharda.

Complementing them was the female roster of Zeenat Aman, Yammi Gautam Dhar, Bhumi Pednekar, Kriti Kharbanda, Surveen Chawla, Keerthy Suresh, Mona Singh, Nayanthara, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Khushi Kapoor, Patralekhaa (as producer), Shefali Shah, Sakshi Tanwar, Archana Puran Singh, Pooja Chopra, Rasika Duggal and Sayani Gupta.

Film producers, writers and directors were also represented by big names like Karan Johar, Siddharth Anand and Aditya Dhar. The list also included Shital Bhatia (Neeraj Pandey’s partner), directors Shouna Gautam, Rishab Seth, Lokesh Dhar, Gopi Puthran, Nupur Asthana and others.
