Unlocking the trailer of futuristic thriller, Kalki 2898 AD

The much-awaited trailer of the sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD has finally been unveiled. While the first glimpse teaser had introduced audiences to the extraordinary cinematic universe rooted in Indian mythology, the trailer delves deeper, hinting at the narrative.

Amitabh Bachchan performs daring stunts as Ashwatthama, ‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Haasan appears in a deadly avatar as Yaskin, and Prabhas is Bhairava on a perilous bounty hunt. Deepika Padukone portrays Sumati, facing intense challenges in her role while pregnant, and Disha Patani is Roxie.

The trailer introduces three distinct worlds: Kashi, depicted as the last remaining city struggling for survival (it is also said to be the oldest city in the world), the Complex, a paradise in the sky controlled by the elite, and Shambala, a mystical land serving as a refuge for those persecuted by the Complex.

At the launch event held at the Novotel Hotel, Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas and special guest Rana Daggubati (director Ashwin Nag’s classmate in school!) all rushed to help a pregnant Deepika Padukone up the stage. Bachchan asked the young stars to hold off as he wanted to help her, while Kamal Haasan merely watched! And later, as Deepika got down from the stage, with Prabhas’ help, Bachchan mock-pulled the actor from behind.

The film is set to be one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious undertakings. The trailer is available in multiple languages including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and English.

Director Nag Ashwin’s visionary approach claims and promises to redefine Indian cinema with its groundbreaking visuals and storytelling. The trailer’s reference to the Mahabharat is a standout moment, marking a pinnacle in cinematic storytelling. Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, this multilingual, mythology-inspired sci-fi spectacle is slated to release on June 27.
