United Senior Pariwar Chicago Celebrates Valentine’s Day, Maha Shivratri, and Health Seminar

On Sunday, February 16, 2025, 300 members of United Senior Pariwar, Chicago, gathered to celebrate Maha Shivratri, Valentine’s Day, and a health seminar by Dr. Ashish Patel at the Swaminarayan Mandir in Wheeling, IL. Mrs. Jyotsna Chokshi led the congregation in singing Prarthna and Shiv Stuti alongside all members.

The event began with a Deep Pragatya ceremony, performed by Dr. Ashish Patel and President Shree Ramesh Chokshi, followed by Swalok chanting led by Vice President Prof. Shree Rohit Joshi. Mrs. Meena Patel also sang a beautiful bhajan dedicated to Shivji. Vice President Shree Rohit Joshi greeted Dr. Ashish Patel with a bouquet of flowers in recognition of his contribution.

Dr. Ashish Patel, of Horizon Medical Center in Schaumburg, delivered a comprehensive talk on diabetes and heart-related issues. He discussed the basics of diabetes, its types, and how to identify it based on blood sugar levels. He emphasized the importance of daily exercise, particularly walking for 30 minutes, as a preventive measure against diabetes. Dr. Patel also explained cholesterol, blood pressure, and heart health, offering practical advice on reducing heart-related problems. At the end of the seminar, Dr. Patel answered members’ questions and provided personalized guidance.

In addition, United Senior Pariwar celebrated the birthdays of members whose birthdays fall in February, presenting them with packets of sweets as gifts. Vice President Shree Rohit Joshi also spoke on the significance of Maha Shivratri.

Dr. Ashish Patel and President Shree Ramesh Chokshi conducted a Pooja in honor of Shivji, starting with an Abhishek on the Shivling, followed by the Aarti. All members participated in the Abhishek ceremony.

The gathering included a heartfelt Shardhanjali for Smt. Shardaben Patel, wife of Shree Haribhai Patel (President of Bhartiya Seniors of Chicago), who passed away on February 12, 2025, in Ahmedabad, India. Additionally, Shree Ohm Prakashji Kamaria, husband of Smt. Usha Kamaria (member of the Advisory Committee), passed away on January 20, 2025, in Glenview, IL. Both were remembered with prayers and tributes.

The event concluded with a delicious Kathiyawadi lunch, catered by the Swaminarayan Mandir, Wheeling.
