New Jersey – In a significant move to bolster engagement and leadership participation, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) New Jersey chapter has announced an updated election procedure for the selection of its President-Elect and Board of Directors for 2025. This decision, passed by the Board of Directors (BoD) in Q4 2024, is aimed at ensuring broader involvement of Charter Members in steering the chapter’s future and strengthening its contribution to the TiE Global Network and New Jersey’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Under the newly revised process, the President-Elect position will now be filled through an open election. Every Charter Member (CM) in good standing has the right to nominate candidates. Candidates for President-Elect or Board positions must be recommended by one CM in good standing and seconded by another. Eligibility requirements include a minimum of three years as a Charter Member within the past five years, as well as at least one year of service on the Board or an Executive Committee in the past three years. The Board also reserves the right to make suitable adjustments for exceptional candidates who may not meet all specified criteria but are otherwise well-qualified.

To facilitate this transition, TiE NJ has updated its bylaws and established a special election calendar for 2025. Eligible candidates must submit their applications via email by 5:00 PM on Monday, March 17, 2025. The application must include:

  • A cover letter detailing the candidate’s interest, qualifications, professional background, and vision for TiE NJ.
  • A nomination letter listing the names and contact information of two recommenders.

Applications should be sent to Chairman Raman Kapur at chairman@nj.tie.org, with a copy to President Suresh Kumar at president.tienj@gmail.com. If the number of candidates exceeds the available positions, all Charter Members will be invited to vote.

Following the election, the President-Elect will collaborate with the incumbent President for a minimum of six months before officially assuming the presidency in Q4 2025 for a two-year term. Board Members will serve staggered three-year terms. According to TiE Global rules, both the President and Board Members are eligible for a second consecutive term of equivalent duration.

TiE NJ encourages its Charter Members to take an active role in shaping the future of the organization by joining the Executive Team or running for leadership positions. This initiative underscores TiE NJ’s commitment to fostering a dynamic and inclusive entrepreneurial environment in New Jersey.
