Three Indian Americans were recently elected to the New Hampshire State Assembly, Nov. 5, 2024. India’s Consul General in New York Binaya Srikant Pradhan also oversees New Delhi’s diplomatic duties in that state along with several other Northeastern states of US. He went to meet the newly elected Assemblymen in New Hampshire November 30, 2024, Manoj Chourasia, Sanjeev K. Manohar and Santosh Salvi in the town of Nashua, NH., along with leaders of the Indian Association of New Hampshire (IANH).

CG Pradhan congratulated the three Assemblymen for their electoral victories and appreciated their commitment for public service including the welfare of Indian diaspora members, according to a post on X @IndiainNewYork.

Chourasia, a 30-year IT professional and resident of Nashua for 22 years, ran his campaign also on his two decades of community service as part of IANH. His agenda included working for increased opportunities and higher paying jobs to grow the economy and attract a quality workforce; Advocating for lowering costs for hard-working families; Supporting  public schools and higher education system through proper funding; Connecting the university system with businesses to educate, employ, and retain youth; Advocate for affordable housing solutions and reduced energy costs; as well as finding solutions to the childcare crisis so young families can achieve a better work-life balance.

Manohar, a chemical engineer, has a graduate degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in 1986 and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992. His career experience includes working as a chemical engineer. Manohar has been affiliated with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the American Chemical Society. Upon his election on Nov. 5, Manohar said the stakes for America’s core values remain high. “In the wake of a challenging national election, now more than ever, strong state-level leadership is critical to preserving the democratic principles we hold dear.” He went on to add, “While national results may reflect a shift, our victory here in New Hampshire is a powerful reminder that local voices and communities stand united for transparency, representation, and accountability.” In his answers to questions from Ballotpedia, Manohar said, “I am a scientist and engineer passionate about serving the public through political office.” The father of 3 daughters, has been living in Nashua for 18 years. “As a scientist, I have an active research group with publications and patents in technological applications of nanotechnology.” He has been an entrepreneur in the past as founder and CEO of a software startup. He got interested in workers rights and collective bargaining initiatives, and “always felt energized in a public-facing mode advocating for something bigger and better than myself and in reaching out to those with differing opinions and viewpoints and coming up solutions that make measurable, meaningful changes in our lives.”

Salvi has been a resident of Nashua since 1997. The successful serial entrepreneur has been involved over the past 20 years in social work in various capacities, including Sunday school teacher, community president, provider for the homeless, and temple volunteer. A software engineer, working with Fortune 500 companies for many years, Salvi lost his job during the financial crisis in July 2008. He went on to establish his own software company, Unique System Skills LLC. He invested the profits from his company into creating a licensed technical institute to help the local workforce enhance their technical skills, ensuring they could remain competitive in the job market after experiencing layoffs. Alongside his regular job, he ventured into real estate, acquiring several multi-family apartment buildings in Nashua. His passion for helping others extended to his tenants, whom he supported by leveraging his network to find them jobs during challenging times. He even hired some of his tenants with manufacturing backgrounds, guided them to complete their college degrees, and transition into good corporate jobs or start their own businesses. He has also leads a community project involving 40 local families who have been preparing and serving dinner at the Nashua Soup Kitchen weekly for the past three years.
