Sunny Deol’s, Poonam Dhillon’s and Sooraj Barjatya’s kids to debut together

Almost 34 years after Maine Pyar Kiya, Rajshri Productions, which has been in the distribution business since 1947 and in film production since 1962, will make a romance that has three in-film industry debuts again. In Maine Pyar Kiya, actor-turned-writer Salim Khan’s son Salman Khan, composer Vijay Singh’s daughter Bhagyashree and producer Rajkumar Barjatya’s son, Sooraj R. Barjatya all made their debuts. Of course, Salman had been a model and done a supporting role in Biwi Ho To Aisi, and Bhagyashree had acted in television serial Kachchi Dhoop before their lead debuts in films.

In the new romantic film about two strangers heading for a common destination, Sunny Deol’s second son, Rajveer Deol, Poonam Dhillon’s daughter, Paloma Thakeria and Sooraj R. Barjatya’s son Avnish will all make their debuts. An emotional Dharmendra, Rajveer’s grandfather, stated emotionally on his social media, “Introducing my grandson Rajveer Deol to the world of cinema along with Avnish Barjatya’s directorial debut. I humbly request you all to shower the same love and affection on both the kids as you have on me.” Interestingly, at the time of writing this post, the leading lady had not been finalized. Later, he posted a pic of the film’s poster and tweeted, “Blessings”.

It is also interesting to note that Sunny and Poonam had themselves first starred in the romance, Sohni Mahiwal, in 1984, and later in Samundar and Saveray Wali Gadi, while Dharmendra himself had romanced Poonam in Sone Pe Suhaaga and Qayamat, and she had also co-starred in his home production, Sitamgar, all films from the 1980s.

Avnish has previously worked as an assistant director on Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) and as associate director on Uunchai (2022).
