South Asian-origin female stand-ups to perform in New York

Minority Reportz Comedy Show will present some New York and Los Angeles-based South Asian-origin female comedians to connect New York through the funny.

On August 23rd, Minority Reportz in association with Desi.NYC brings Desi Girls Independence Night Out Comedy Show and an after party with the legendary Dj Rekha, in the heart of New York City at The Cutting Room in Chelsea to celebrate India and Pakistan Independence Day by showcasing laughter through diversit, according to a press release.

Presented by Mona Shaikh (Tru TV’s LaffMobb, The Young Turks), and hosted by Zubi Ahmed and Pooja Reddy (Kuttigang), the show highlights comedic, multi-cultural points of view by Shazia Mirza (BBC, Edinburgh Festival), Ayanna Dookie (Laffoholics), Nadia Iqbal (Kuttigang) and Karmen Naidoo (NY Comedy Club).

Some of Minority Reportz’ past comedians have been Margaret Cho, Nikki Glaser, Tiffany Haddish, Trae Crowder, Finesse Mitchell, Iliza Schlesinger, Mike Yard, Dustin Ybarra to name a few.

According to the release, they not only give a platform to diverse established comedians but also to up and comers who wouldn’t get to perform in a major comedy club.

At its new location on East 32nd Street between Park and Madison, The Cutting Room builds on a decade of history that includes some of today’s top performers – John Mayer, Lady Gaga, Sting, Sheryl Crow and David Bowie are just some of the artists that have graced the stage of the Cutting Room at its previous location.

Created by original owner Steve Walter (Berklee Alumnus) and co-owner Chris Noth (Sex and the City, Law & Order, The Good Wife), the new Cutting Room continues the tradition of extraordinary performances and special moments, with a fresh new take on what a rock club & lounge should feel like.
