Singer, musician, composer nabs 2nd Emmy nomination, Top Chef also on list

Siddhartha Khosla, an Indian-American award-winning film and television composer, was recently (July 28, 2020) nominated for an Emmy award for the second time.

He is the first Indian-American to be nominated twice, according to his father Dinesh Khosla, who told Desi Talk his son had performed at the White House in the Obama years.

Last year Siddhartha Khosla was nominated for “Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score)” in the popular and critically acclaimed series ‘This is Us.’

For the 2020 Emmy’s he has been nominated in the category “Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics” for the same series for his song ‘Memorized’. He is competing against songs in other hit series – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Black Godfather, Little Fires Everywhere, Watchmen, Euphoria, and Last Week Tonight With John Oliver. Khosla grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey. He is quoted in the newspaper ‘Bergen Buzz’ saying, “Every Sunday, while growing up, I’d sing in our local Hindu temple in Bergen County; It’s how I learned to sing in front of a crowd.”

Another Indian-American to make it to the list of nominees is Padma Lakshmi of Top Chef fame. She is listed in the category, “Host for a Reality or Competition Program.”

Lakshmi is competing against Amy Poehler & Nick Oferman of “Making it”; Nicole Byer of “Nailed It!”;

Karamo Brown, Anton Porowski, Tan France, Bobby Berk and Jonathan Van Ness of “Queer Eye”; RuPaul  of “RuPaul’s Drag Race”; Daymond John, Barbara Corcoran, Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Kevin O’Leary and Robert Herjavec of “Shark Tank”.

Lakshmi and Tom Colicchio are jointly nominated for Top Chef.

Voting for the winners begins Aug. 21, and the winners of the 72nd annual Emmys will be announced Sept. 20, 2020.
