The team of the upcoming American TV series, Citadel, was in India last week promoting the epic spy series. But meanwhile, the makers, Amazon Prime Video, are slowly finalizing the cast for the Hindi version, and Sikandar Kher is the latest addition. The show is going to be directed by filmmaker duo Raj and DK, who are also co-writing the series with Sita Menon. The Hindi version will have Varun Dhawan in the lead with Samantha Prabhu playing the part originally played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Sikandar Kher, 41, is the latest addition to the cast of the Hindi version. He had even attended the India premiere of the American version that happened in Mumbai. This will be the first time that Varun and Sikandar will be working with Raj and DK—Samantha has already done Season 2 of The Family Man with them.

Sikandar, son of Kirron Kher with her first husband Gautam Berry, made his debut in the 2008 Woodstock Villa. His work includes the American film, Monkey Man, the Indian TV series 24, again the Indian version of an American hit series, and the web series, Aarya.

On Citadel’s Indian version, Priyanka was recently asked about what advice she would like to give to the Indian lead pair, she stated, “I don’t think I can give them any advice. They’re such accomplished actors in their own ways. There’s nothing I can say. I met Varun recently at an event and he was telling me how the shoot is going, how excited he is. There are some really cool threads that connect the other installments with our installment, so we were talking about those.”

She also told the Indian media that the directors “Raj and DK are so amazing, so talented and they’ll bring their own spin to the Indian installment.” The actress also expressed excitement for watching the Indian version.

Meanwhile, Samantha too has confirmed on Instagram, “The mission is on. We have started rolling for the Indian installment of Citadel.”

About the relationship between the international and Indian versions, all that Varun revealed to the media was, “PeeCee and I spoke about the relationship between the Indian and American Citadel. They are interconnected. That’s the only spoiler I can give you.”

The Indian version will have either a late 2023 or an early 2024 release. The rest of the cast will be announced soon.
