After a bad 2021 in which her only release, Hungama 2, nosedived and her husband Raj Kundra landed in legal hassles, Shilpa Shetty Kundra is back on her usual roll. In fact, she wears so many hats that she is the only actor on the block who has become a rage across every medium in Indian entertainment. What’s more, she has a brilliant business mind.

A strategic investor, Shilpa has invested in the cruelty-free skincare brand MamaEarth that has now acquired unicorn status (a privately-held startup that has reached a $1 billion or INR 100 crore valuation). While buzz is that there might be some more smart investments on the horizons for her, Shilpa is also one of the top celebrities who successfully turned entrepreneurs.

Investing in the FnB business, both her Bastian restaurants are loved by celebs and foodies while she gears up for the launch of her third restaurant, Binge by Bastian.

This year, Shilpa also the panel of judges on one of the country’s leading reality TV shows, India’s Got Talent, and made her presence felt with her fair and authentic judgment. In the past, she has already judged shows like Nach Baliye, Zara Nachke Dikkha and Super Dancer.

Shilpa is currently shooting for Sukhee, directed by Sonal Joshi and backed by Abundantia Entertainment and T-Series. Her action comedy Nikamma too will release soon.

What’s more, after her fiction-based radio series Draupadi  in the title-role, Shilpa’s recently-launched radio show Shape of You has become a go-to place for fitness freaks like John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez and Shehnaaz Gill. Her DVD, Shilpa’s Yoga, has already achieved huge success in the last decade. And her Simple Soulful is a holistic health app designed for fitness enthusiasts. All things Yoga, diet, immunity and fitness can be found on it.

Shilpa’s eponymous YouTube channel is also quite popular with users. With a following of over 2.92 million subscribers on the channel, she talks health and wellness on her videos. The aim of this channel is to spread awareness about holistic wellness and encourage a healthy lifestyle modification.

And while her OTT debut had happened with the 2018 Hear Me. Love Me, a reality dating show, on Amazon, she will soon make her fiction show debut in a series. “Look, the digital medium is powerful, especially because the youth appreciates the wide variety they get, and which they can watch at their convenience,” Shilpa had said to me then.

Her debut was in Baazigar, for which she began shooting three decades ago! “I think that age is just a mental thing. You start to age only when you begin to lack enthusiasm. I enjoy, give my 100 percent and live for every moment, even now as I talk to you. That keeps me alive, keeps me young and going and wanting to do better. I am very proud of my age today and will be even prouder as time goes on. I want to feel younger and keep enjoying even when I am 60!” she had added.

Clearly Shilpa has grown into a Jack (Jill?) of all trades. And we certainly cannot say that she is master of none.  Acting in regional films besides Hindi, winning an international reality show, becoming ambassador for PETA and other noble causes, even producing a Hindi film (Dishkiyaaoon) and more, Ashwini (her real name!) has done it all with rare panache.
