Republic Day celebrated at Indian Consulate, NY

The Indian Consulate in New York, headed by Consul General Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, held a joyful 76th Republic Day celebrations, with several programs, honors, felicitations and performances.

This year, apart from the traditional hoisting of the flag, the celebrations included recognizing the achievements and contributions of the Indian diaspora and the friends of India across various fields. Those selected for the honor came from business, science, technology, arts, sports, and public service.

Among the attendees was Parikh Worldwide Media Chairman and Padma Shri recipient Dr. Sudhir Parikh, and Dr. Sudha Parikh, as well as the executive committee members of FIA-NYNJCT. “We all are very proud of India and are working for the good of India,” Dr. Parikh told ITV Gold. He also praised the FIA and its executive committee for its accomplishments.

Those named on the X account of the Consulate include Manoj Chourasia, Member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, Kris Singh, 4th Judicial District Administrative Judge of the New York State Unified Court System Rena Malik, Just in the New York City Civil Court representing Brooklyn’s 1st Municipal Court District, John Guy, Florence and Herbert Irving Curator of South and Southeast Asian Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Jonathan Hollander, the founder of the Battery Dance Company, Dr. Ashok Chaudhury from Indian Heritage and Cultural Organization-NJ, Mangesh Kamat representing Mallakhambh Association of USA.

Also in the list of honorees was Abhimany Mishra @ChessMishra, the youngest Grandmaster, Sabina Dhillon, a noted attorney, Raj Lulla, co-founder and CTO of Haylon Technologies, Namin Shah, co-founder and CEO of Haylon Technologies, Rohit Bhadange, co-founder and CEO of Zamp,  Abhinav Godavarthi, CEO of General Biological, and Sunny Aggarwal @sunnya97, co-founder of Osmosis Finance.

The Consulate thanked the honorees “for joining us and accepting this honor. We hope they continue to inspire and make significant impacts, enriching both their communities and the world at large.”

The celebrations also included a Bharatnatyam performance by Kazakhstan’s Kassiyet, whose passion for Indian culture and arts began at the age of 6, inspired by her mother’s love of India. She performed Vande Mataram.

On the same day, several Indian American youth were felicitated for being among the top 50 scorers of the 5th Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz. The Quiz was organized by India’s Ministry of External Affairs. Those felicitated by Consul General Pradhan included Ankit Nahar, Darshana Sudarshan, Prachi Shukla, and Rupshali Roy.
