Rajkumar outpaces contenders in campaign fundraising for NYC Comptroller

In the two months since announcing her candidacy for New York City Comptroller, Jenifer Rajkumar has raised over $240,000 – more than any other candidate in the field.

Rajkumar’s campaign this a demonstrating “the undeniable momentum her campaign has generated, and the overwhelming support for her historic bid.”

Currently, Rajkumar is the only Indian American woman in the New York State Assembly.

“Our campaign is gaining unparalleled support from across New York,” she is quoted saying in a press release October 11. “New Yorkers are ready for fresh, dynamic leadership that can move our City forward. I will be the Comptroller who makes our government work for the people, and ensure New Yorkers get a full return on their investment.”

Her campaign expects to qualify for millions in matching funds by January.

Rajkumar, a graduate of Stanford Law School and the University of Pennsylvania, made history when she became the first Indian American woman elected to a New York State Office. In Albany, her legislative wins include granting worker protections to domestic workers, paving the way for the closure of all illegal smoke shops with her SMOKEOUT Act, and making Diwali a School Holiday in New York City.
