Public Service Announcement: Empire State Building will be emblazoned with Indian tricolor

This Monday, Aug. 15, the Empire State Building will bring an exciting and dynamic celebration of India’s 75th Independence Day to its world-famous Observatory for locals and visitors. In advance of the city’s parade on Aug. 21, the Empire State Building will celebrate with the following special events: 

· The Empire State Building world-famous tower lights will shine in the colors of the Indian flag – green, white and orange – the night of Aug. 15 to celebrate India Day. Earlier that afternoon at 1 p.m., Indian film composer, lyricist, singer-songwriter and composer Devi Sri Prasad will visit the Empire State Building to flip the ceremonial light switch at a public ceremony. 

· Shortly after the ceremonial lighting, Indian Singer Shankar Mahadevan will visit the Observatory Experience to take part in the celebrations and for photos. 

·  The Empire State Building will also welcome local NYC-based Indian restaurant Taco Mahal on Aug. 15 to sell their famous samosas and roti tacos (chicken tikka masala and chana masala) on its 86th Floor Observatory from 11 a.m. through 3 p.m.
