Pankaj Tripathi will play Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee in biopic, Atal

Ever since the announcement of a film on our three-time Prime Minister was announced, it piqued the audience’s interest to know who will be playing the role of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. With Pankaj Tripathi coming in as th title-role player, the excitement within the audiences is raised a notch higher.

The film will be helmed by thrice-National Award winner Ravi Jadhav, one of the renowned directors of the Marathi film industry, who had also directed the Hindi Banjo (2016). The film is written by Utkarsh Naithani.

Ravi has directed epic Marathi movies like Natarang (2009), Balgandharva (2011), Balak-Palak (2013), Timepass (2014) and others, including the last film’s two sequels.

Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon Yeh Desh Rehna Chahiye – Atal revolves around the journey of Vajpayee, an honorable leader and one of the co-founders and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Speaking about playing this iconic persona, Pankaj Tripathi expressed emotionally , “It’s my honor to portray such a humane politician on screen. He was not just a politician but so much more. He was an excellent writer and a renowned poet. Getting to be in his shoes is nothing but a privilege for an actor like me.”

Director Ravi Jadhav added, “For me as a director, I couldn’t have asked for any better story than that of Atal-ji. On top of this, with having an exemplary actor like Pankaj Tripathi to bring to screen the story, and the support of the producers, I hope that I can live up to expectations.”

Producer Vinod Bhanushali shared, “Unanimously, we all had imagined Pankaj Tripathi playing Atal-ji since we began discussing the film. We are delighted to have one of India’s finest actors playing the part. We also have an exceptional director on board, who we are sure will bring the story of our exemplary leader to us beautifully.”

Producer Sandeep Singh stated, “India is soon going to celebrate the life of Atal-ji and his political ideologies. We aim to release this film in Christmas 2023, which also marks the 99^th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee-ji.”

Presented by Bhanushali Studios Limited and Legend Studios, the film is produced by Vinod Bhanushali, Sandeep Singh, Sam Khan and Kamlesh Bhanushali in association of 70MM Talkies, and co-produced by Zeeshan Ahmad and Shivv Sharma. The rest of the cast and credits will be announced soon.

The film is based on the book, “The Untold Vajpayee: Politician and Paradox” written by Ullekh NP and published by Penguin Random House India.
