North Hempstead Town Clerk hosts leaders of India Association of Long Island

North Hempstead Town Clerk Ragini Srivastava recently welcomed President Pradeep Tandon and his team from the India Association of Long Island (IALI) at her office.

The visit provided an opportunity for meaningful discussions about the organization’s various forums and their impact on the community, a press release from IALI said.

Town Clerk Srivastava was especially eager to reconnect with the officials she recently honored during India’s Independence Day celebration at the IALI Center on August 15, 2024. She expressed her interest in learning more about their ongoing work and the contributions IALI makes to the community.

Apart from Tandon, the IALI team included Vice President Sushil Khanna, Secretary Dr. Neeru Bhambri, Executive Council Members-at-Large Ashwani Beri, Sushma Kaushik, Kishore Malik, Komedy Klub Co-Chair Sonal Jani, Sangeet Forum Chair Vandana Kumar, Senior Forum Co-Chair Sushma Loomba, and Women’s Forum Chair Rachna Shahdadpuri.

Tandon provided a brief overview of IALI’s mission and activities through its various forums and community service initiatives. He also emphasized that each Forum meets every month, often reaching full capacity, highlighting the strong community engagement and participation within IALI. The Forums include the Komedy Klub, Sangeet (Music), Women’s Forum, Senior Forum, Health and Wellness, Meditation, and Sports Forum.

Each Forum’s leader shared insights into their specific roles and the unique contributions of each forum:

  • Komedy Klub: EC Ashwani Beri and Co-Chair Sonal Jani explained that the Komedy Klub offers a platform for humor and entertainment, bringing laughter to the community.
  • Sangeet Forum: Chair Vandana Kumar highlighted that the Sangeet Forum promotes traditional and contemporary Indian music, fostering a love for music across generations.
  • Women’s Forum: Chair Rachna Shahdadpuri discussed how the Women’s Forum empowers women through various initiatives, workshops, and support networks.
  • Senior Forum: Co-Chair Sushma Loomba described the Senior Forum as a supportive space for senior citizens, offering activities and resources tailored to their needs.
  • Health and Wellness: EC Prafulba Vaghela mentioned the forum’s focus on holistic health through physical fitness, mental well-being, and educational workshops.
  • Meditation Forum: This forum encourages mindfulness and stress relief through regular meditation sessions and wellness programs.
  • Sports Forum: The Sports Forum promotes physical activity and camaraderie through various sports and recreational activities.
