Non-profit holds massive meal packing event in New Jersey to aid victims of Ukraine crisis

Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care (SRLC), a global non-profit organization, conducted a community service event at The Hilton Parsippany, in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey, July 15, 2022, hosting a massive meal packing drive for those affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine

Founder of the SRLC Gurudevshri Rakeshji was present at the event, a press release from the organization said. He established the Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur (SRMD).

In Parsippany, more than 1,000 volunteers engaged in a gigantic effort, packing 100,000 meals to support the families who have been affected by the current crisis in Eastern Europe, a press release from SRLC said.

Also present was India’s Consul General in New York Randhir Jaiswal, as well as Parsippany Mayor James Barberio. New York City Mayor Eric Adams was represented by his Deputy Commissioner Dilip Chauhan. Miss New Jersey USA, Alexandra Lakhman, a first-generation Ukrainian American was also at the event.

“What I do is minuscule compared to what you do to support the community,” Parsippany Mayor Barberio is quoted saying at the event.

“I’m excited to see the energy here which connects not just the people here, but also people across the world,” Consul General Jaiswal said.

Lakhman said, “What your organization is doing for Ukraine is truly commendable. Thank you for giving us food, thank you for giving us hope above all, thank you for helping the ones that needed the most”

SRLC is founder Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshji, honored by New York City Mayor Hon. Eric Adams with Proclamation Presented by Deputy Commissioner Dilip Chauhan and declared July 15th, 2022 as “SHRIMAD RAJCHNDRA LOVE AND CARE DAY” in New York City.

Chauhan called it a “commendable and amazing humanitarian” work done by SRLC volunteers. He also revealed a proclamation from Mayor Eric Adams which designated July 15, 2022 as Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care Day.

“Today’s event is an excellent opportunity for every New Yorker to stand in solidarity with our Slavic sisters and brothers,” Chauhan said, and applauded the non-profit for “its tireless efforts to build a better, brighter and safer future for all.”

The SRLC is inspired by Shrimad Rajchandraji, a philosopher, and the spiritual guide of Late Mahatma Gandhi. The SRLC enjoys Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic & Social Council.
