
Neil Khot, a businessman and community leader from Schaumburg, Ill., is running for the November 3, 2026 election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Congressional District 8.
The seat is held by Democratic Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi since 2017. Krishnamoorthi recently declared his run for the US Senate in the 2026 general elections, aiming to fill the seat being vacated by Senator Dick Durbin. However, Krishnamoorthi remains on the ballot for the House race along with five competitors, four of them Democrats and one Republican, according to Ballotpedia. The Democrats include Khot, Yasmeen Bankole, Sanjyot Dunung, Kevin Morrison, and Joseph Wentzel. The Republican candidate is Mark Rice.
District 8 is rated as “Solid Democrat” by The Cook Political Report. Cook County, which includes Chicago, and DuPage County, as well as Kane County, make up District 8. There are several pockets of Indian American populations in some of the cities in District 8, including Chicago, Elgin, Schaumburg, Des Plaines, Hoffman Estates, Bartlett, among them.
Khot, a Democrat, registered with the Federal Election Commission on April 30. As of May 19, as this article went to press, Khot had no contributions listed at FEC. His eponymous website neilforcongress.com, has yet to be uploaded with any materials on the candidate or his endorsements.
According to his bio on Linkedin Khot is the President, CEO, and Founder of Rely Services, a professional services firm that provides optimizing solutions to the commercial and government sectors. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Rely has offices in Dubai and Pune.
“Over the past twenty years, Neil has built and scaled Rely from a one-man startup to an ecosystem of four businesses (Rely Services, Barrington Plaza Realty, Nirvana Management, and Rely Ventures),” the bio says, adding that the companies have millions of dollars in revenue, dozens of team members, and thousands of corporate clients.
Khot has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Karnataka University, according to the Linkedin bio.
