Mindy Kaling to star in Lockdown with Ben Kingsley

Vera Mindy Chokalingam known professionally as Mindy Kaling along with Oscar winner Sir Ben Kingsley and Bohemian Rhapsody‘s Lucy Boynton, are going to be seen together in a high-stakes heist movie, Lockdown, which is also a romantic comedy.

Written by Peaky Blinders‘ Steven Knight, the movie which is currently filming in London, features actors Chiwetel Ejiofor and Anne Hathaway as leads portraying a squabbling couple who call a truce to plot a jewelry heist at world-famous department store Harrods. According to Deadline, the iconic London landmark’s owners have allowed it to be used as a backdrop for the movie.

Other actors in Lockdown’s cast include Ben Stiller, Stephen Merchant, Dulee Hill, Jazmyn Simons, and Doctor Who alum Mark Gatiss. Director Doug Liman (Mr. & Mrs. SmithThe Bourne Identity).

Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios is fully funding the under-$10 million film that is shooting now, according to Deadline.

Kaling, the former star of The Office and The Mindy Project has written two memoirs and released a third, Nothing Like I Imagined (Except for Sometimes). She also created the acclaimed Netflix series Never Have I Ever and she’s currently writing for multiple upcoming projects, including Legally Blonde 3.
