Kareena Kapoor Khan’s forthcoming film, The Buckingham Murders, has created a stir with the release of its intriguing poster and teaser. The film marks her debut as a producer. The makers have now released the first song, Sada pyaar tut gaya.

The song, which features Kareena Kapoor Khan, comes at a time when her character is going through a lot. The actress can be seen in a de-glam look. Showcasing different shades of her character as a detective, the song brings out the various emotions she experiences in the film.

It is sung and composed by Vicky Marley, while Bally Sagoo has mixed, produced and arranged the song. The lyrics are written by Devshi Khanduri.

The Buckingham Murders will be released exclusively in cinemas on September 13. The film features an exceptional ensemble cast, including Kareena herself, Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar and Keith Allen. Directed by Hansal Mehta and written by Aseem Arrora, Kashyap Kapoor and Raghav Raj Kakker, it is a Mahana Films and TBM Films production, presented by Balaji Telefilms and produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R. Kapoor, and first-time producer Kareena Kapoor Khan.

The film is about Jasmeet ‘Jass’ Bhamra, single mother and a stellar cop, who is left wrecked after witnessing the murder of her only son when they are out over the weekend. In deep grief and unable to cope with the loss, Jass tries to piece her life back together and gets herself posted to a different town.

Just when she begins to make peace with her past, the town is jolted by the mysterious murder of a local teenage boy, the son of Indian immigrants. That the finger of suspicion is on another Pakistani boy causes rift between the communities that have historically witnessed bloodshed. Unhealed wounds fester again as Bhamra tries to negotiate her space in a new police station, where old-timers are set in their ways.

What initially appeared to be an unassuming, middle-class, small town full of hardworking people from the Indian subcontinent reveals its complexities as cockroaches come out of the woodwork.

Secrets are spilled, communities are fractured, innocence is lost and a complex web of intergenerational prejudices comes to the surface. Jass must face the demons of her past in order to get justice to the boy’s grieving family and more importantly, find closure for herself.

Grandfather Raj Kapoor, grand-uncle Shashi Kapoor, father Randhir Kapoor, uncles Rishi and Rajiv Kapoor and cousin Ranbir Kapoor have been producers from the Kapoor clan earlier. Great-grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor produced plays, while grand-uncle Shammi Kapoor, along with Raj, Shashi, Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv have also directed films. Kareena thus becomes the first woman from the Kapoor family to turn producer. Raj Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor have also been film editors.
