Indian Seniors of Chicago enjoy Mother’s Day, Magic Show and Birthdays

Hundreds of members attended the general meeting of Indian Seniors of Chicago, a community organization, Saturday May 13, 2023 at Mahalakshmi Hall of Manav Seva Mandir.

Approximately 330 members attended the meeting which was successfully managed by Secretary Hira Patel, a press release from ISC said.

The event kicked off with the singing of prayers and reciting of Sri Hanuman Chalisa by Bhupendra Suthar, Geeta Suthar, Panna Shah, Chandrika Shah and Kokila Patel.

Treasurer C.V. Desai presented the income and expenditure account for April 2023 and announced the names of the persons who made the donation. He also informed attendees about music programs to be held under the initiative of the non-profit organization Ekal Vidyalaya.

Professor Sharad Shah gave a lecture about Gujarat Day. On the occasion of 63rd Founder’s Day of Gujarat, he said that Gujarat is the heart of India. The progress achieved by Gujarat in every field of industrial production, agricultural production and export etc. is significant, he noted.

Lunch sponsor Yogesh Patel and Meenakshi Patel were honored with a bouquet by Hasumati Patel. The book Shrimad Gitaji, Chapter 12 and Chapter 15 explanation written by Professor Sharad Shah, was released by the President of the Institute Dr. Narsinh Patel.

On this occasion, Dr. Narsinhbhai Patel gave information about the booklet and congratulated Prof. Sharad Shah. After the release ceremony a copy of Srimad Gitaji was given to each member.

Bhupendra Suthar and Arvind Kotak requested those whose birthdays fall in the month of May to come forward to celebrate their birthday. Birthday cards were presented to them and the birthday song, Baar Baar Din Ae Aye Tum Jio Hazaron Saal, was sung on the occasion.

Kanti Patel showed the audience the beautiful pictures members had drawn for Mother’s Day. A group photograph was taken. He gave a speech regarding the special importance of mother in the society and in the family. All the members gave a round of applause to the members who had prepared the paintings.

Lunch sponsors Yogesh Patel and Meenakshi Patel were honored with a bouquet by Hasumati Patel. Manu and Nalini Shah, Daksha and Satish Parikh, Malini and Baiju Mehta donated sweets to compliment the lunch. All donors were felicitated with flowers. All family members and friends of the sponsors were present.

Arvind Kotak made the attendees laugh a lot by telling jokes.

Manhar Parikh gave information about Muni Seva Ashram which is doing humanitarian and health work in Goraj, Vadodara and invited the members to Dr. Jagdish Trivedi’s program organized by Muni Seva Ashram.

Special guest Dilip Shah entertained everyone with card tricks in a 45- minute program, The members enjoyed the magic show and showed their appreciation with thunderous applause.
