Indian Senior Citizens of Chicago help Dr. Jagdish Trivedi raise $50,000 for school in India

Dr. Jagdish Trivedi, a distinguished philanthropist, humorist, poet, and philosopher, spearheaded a successful fundraising event on August 18, 2024, hosted by the Indian Senior Citizens of Chicago, raising $50,000 for the Umang School in Ahmedabad.
The event was held at the Rana-Regan Banquet Hall, and drew  around one thousand seniors from the Chicago area.

Above and below, more than 1,000 people attended the fundraising event headlined by Dr. Jagdish Trivedi for funding Umang School in Ahmedabad.

Hari Patel, president of the Indian Senior Citizens of Chicago, orchestrated the event expressing sincere gratitude to all attendees for their overwhelming support. The impressive donation was gathered in just thirty minutes, driven by Dr. Trivedi’s moving appeal and the critical mission of supporting children with hearing and speech impairments.

The success of this fundraising effort was also attributed to the dedicated efforts of Navin Dholakia and Madarsang Chawda, prominent activists of the organization, whose hard work and commitment played a crucial role in ensuring the event’s smooth execution and overall success

Dr. Trivedi, known not only for his world-renowned comedy but also for his deep commitment to social causes, shared an inspirational story during the event.

Trivedi is also known for his philanthropy, donating 100% of his show income to health and education. For instance, he once raised 2,21,35,000 rupees in three months in the United States and Canada to support education and health needs in Gujarat. His total donations have now surpassed Rupees 11 crore. How did the idea of donating 11 crore rupees to Jagdish Trivedi come about?

Dr. Trivedi’s commitment to philanthropy is well-documented. On his 50th birthday, October 12, 2017, he declared his intention to donate all proceeds from his future programs to health and education initiatives. To date, he has donated over Rupees 9.5 crore for funding the construction of 11 government schools, 7 libraries, and 1 child malnutrition center. His contributions to literature are equally significant, having authored 74 books, 7 of which have received prestigious literary awards.

The Umang School, located in Jivaraj Park, Ahmedabad, is a well-known institution dedicated to the education and welfare of deaf and mute children. In recognition of this generous contribution, P.K. Laheri, chairman of Umang School, and Dr. Nandlal Manseta, founder trustee, expressed their profound gratitude to Dr. Trivedi and the Indian Senior Citizens of Chicago. Their heartfelt appreciation underscored the impact that such donations have on the lives of the children supported by Umang School.
