Kabir Singh, a beloved comedian of Indian origin who captured hearts as a semifinalist on Season 16 of America’s Got Talent (AGT), has died at the age of 39. Known for his sharp wit and humor that celebrated his Indian heritage, Singh passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 5, according to reports.

Law enforcement is awaiting toxicology results to determine the official cause of death, though initial investigations point toward natural causes, potentially linked to pre-existing health issues. Authorities stress, however, that the investigation remains ongoing.

A Shining Star Gone Too Soon

Born in Portland, Oregon, to Indian parents, Singh—affectionately nicknamed “Kabeezy”—discovered his comedic flair early in life. Spending part of his childhood in Bombay, he cultivated a unique talent for performing in English, Hindi, and Punjabi. This multicultural upbringing shaped the humor that resonated so widely with audiences.

Singh’s career gained traction long before AGT. His television credits included appearances on Comedy Central, Family Guy, and Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand-Up Revolution. In 2020, he released a critically acclaimed 30-minute special for Dry Bar Comedy titled Retiring Material.

Despite his burgeoning success, Singh never lost touch with live audiences, performing stand-up regularly. His last show took place in Manteca, California, on November 2, just weeks before his untimely passing.

Mourning and Tributes

The news of Singh’s death was first shared by his close friend and fellow comedian Jeremy Curry, who posted a heartfelt tribute on Facebook alongside a photo of the two. “He passed away peacefully in his sleep,” Curry wrote, adding, “I love you, bro.” Curry also announced that Singh’s funeral services would be held on December 14 in Hayward, California, requesting prayers for Singh’s family and fiancée.

Singh’s humor left a lasting impression on the judges and viewers of AGT, where his jokes about his upbringing and his mother earned him a special connection with fans. Judge Howie Mandel praised Singh as “relatable” and “magnetic,” adding, “America is gonna love you.”

Singh’s passing has left a void in the world of comedy, with fans and peers mourning the loss of a uniquely talented performer who brought laughter to so many. His legacy, woven through his stand-up specials and unforgettable AGT performances, continues to inspire.

Funeral services will honor the comedian’s life on December 14, as his loved ones and fans remember the joy he brought to the stage.
