Indian Consulate in New York hosts winning Indian cricket team during T20 World Cup 2024

The Indian Consulate in New York, held a joyful reception for the victorious T20 World Cup 2024 Indian cricket team after it defeated Pakistan, June 10, 2024. Also at the event were jubilant Indian American fans eager to meet the renowned players.

Headlining the event were India’s Acting Ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan from Washington, D.C., Consul General in New York Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, and the whole Team India led by the likes of Captain Rohit Sharma, Head Coach Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, among others.

The cricket team members interacted with the Indian diaspora leaders from different walks of life, including Padma Shri recipient Dr. Sudhir Parikh, chairman of Parikh Worldwide Media/ITV Gold.

The Consul General extended sincere thanks to the entire team and Board of Cricket Control of India, @BCCI, especially to its President Roger Binny, Secretary Jay Shah, and Vice President Rajeev Shukla.

Notably, more than 96,000 people viewed the Twitter/X post of the Indian Consulate, exhibiting the popularity of the beloved sport.

“This is the 1st time #TeamIndia is playing cricket in New York & first time playing World Cup in the US; Cheering for Team India to go back home with the T20 World Cup!” CG Pradhan and others present said expressing their wish.

Many of those present went personally to watch the India-Pakistan match and also attend the Consul General’s reception.
