Indian-American chamber of commerce launches chapter in South Carolina

The Indian American International Chamber of Commerce (IAICC) inaugurated its new South Carolina chapter at the Governor’s Mansion in Columbia, SC on March 24.

At the event, SC governor Henry McMaster declared the day as IAICC-South Carolina chapter day in a proclamation presented to KV Kumar, president and CEO of IAICC, according to a press release from IAICC.

The governor welcomed IAICC to the state and said his administration will work with the organization and support its initiatives.

He added that SC and India enjoy great relations, and the state has been playing a significant role in promoting India-US trade relations.

McMaster announced that SC was the first state in the southeastern U.S. to establish an Office of Trade Representative in New Delhi.

Kumar thanked the governor and First Lady Peggy McMaster for hosting the IAICC inauguration and the reception at the Governor’s Mansion.

During her address, Consul General of India in Atlanta, Dr. Swati Kulkarni said IAICC will play a catalyst in bringing more business opportunities to SC. She also presented a communique on the present status of India to McMaster.

Secretary of Commerce, Robert Hitt III, and IAICC officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) stating that the signatories will establish and promote a new era of SC-India relations.

IAICC SE Regional Chairman, Narasimhulu Neelagaru said he looked forward to working with McMaster and his state.

Kumar introduced Bhavna Vasudeva as the president of IAICC-SC chapter.

Indian Ambassador to the U.S. Taranjit Singh Sandhu, IAICC executive committee members and officials, members of the governor’s cabinet, and other local business leaders also attended the event.
