India Day Parade-USA holds curtain raiser in New York to announce details about the event

The community organization India Day Parade (IDP)-USA, held a curtain raiser June 28, 2024, at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Bldg., in Mineola, NY, to inform the press about the India Day Parade to be held in August.

Officials and special dignitaries were present along with Chief Guests, Senator Steve Rhoads and Indian Consul Vishal Jayesh Harsh. Sen. Rhoads presented a citation to Consul Harsh on behalf of Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman.

Others present at the event included leading businessman Anil Jain and Private Client Representatives of Chase Bank besides other sponsors and community leaders and entrepreneurs.

This year the 13th India Day Parade celebrating India’s 77th Independence Day is scheduled to be held on August 25, 2024. It will begin in Long Island from Patel Brothers at 415 S. Broadway, Hicksville, NY, and include several colorful floats and more than 50 marching groups and music bands besides the largest IDP Official float, organizers of the event said in a press release.

The final destination of the parade will be 125 W. John Street in Hicksville where the kids’ fun area, retail and commercial booths as well as food stalls will be enjoyed by the public for the rest of the day.

The India Day Parade stage will feature traditional dances, musical performances, and cultural displays, showcasing India’s rich cultural diversity.

The India Day Parade is an annual event that celebrates India’s Independence Day.

The IDP Parade was started in 2012 and every year it attempts to be bigger and better. Presidents Vimal K. Goyal and Dr. Deepak Bansal along with a dedicated team are making every effort to make the upcoming parade historic and once again highly successful, the organizers said.

The singing of Indian patriotic songs brought those present to the floor dancing and waving the Indian flag, June 28, at the IDP-USA curtain-raiser in Mineola, NY.

At the curtain raiser, the National Anthems of the USA and India were sung. Anil Dua sang Indian patriotic songs that brought many to the floor waving Indian flags. Heena Khanijou and Urvashi Kisoon of Kalakriti entertained the audience with classical Indian Kathak dance recitals.

On behalf of IDP Founder and Nassau County Human Rights Commissioner Dr. Bobby Kumar Kalotee, Jasbir (Jay) Singh praised the organizers of holding the parade.

Organizers will be revealing the Grand Marshall and Celebrities who will preside.
