The India Association of Long Island (IALI) has donated more than 1,500 new T Shirts to be given to needy kids just before the start of the school year. The project of IALI was led by Project Chair Mukesh Modi with President Pradeep Tandon and co-chaired Shahi Goyal & Vinod Goyal.

These T Shirts were given to Robers F. Eslick the founder and CEO of Kids Helping Kids, and Sunita Manjarekar, director of Employment Programs for Nassau County Dept of Social Services. They were also given to Executive Director of community affairs at Town of Hempstead Zahid Syed, and Prafulba Vaghela for the Suffolk County needy kids.

The event where the T Shirts were donated was held August 6, 2024. IALI Secretary Dr. Neeru Bhambri welcomed the guests and introduced the executive committee. IALI president Pradeep Tandon noted that the initiative embodied the spirit of community, generosity, and care. “Every child deserves to feel valued and supported, and today, we are taking a small but significant step toward that goal. These T-shirts symbolize our commitment to ensuring that every child feels seen and cared for,” Tandon is quoted saying in the press release. He also thanked Modi for leading the initiative and having an impact on many lives.

“We are excited to roll out this project,” said Modi, adding, “Our mission is to not only show appreciation to our community members but also to enhance the visibility and unity of our vibrant Indian American community.” He thanked Sushma Loomba for helping raise the funds for the T Shirts.

By distributing these T-shirts, IALI hopes to not only provide a useful item but also to inspire a sense of belonging and community pride, organizers said.

Eslick said the T Shirts would be used for the Fall season. Kids Helping Kids has so far distributed more than a million pieces of  apparel to needy kids, he said.

Manjarekar said there are 1,500 family that are homeless in Nassau County. She thanked IALI and said the T shirts will be given to foster care kids and the kids who lives in shelters.
