Illinois Congressman Announces 11th Congressional Global Community Oscars 2021

United States Congressman Danny K Davis, D-Illinois, announced that the ‘MEATF CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF EXCELLENCE FOR 2021’ goes to the producers of Jai Bhim, an Indian movie on police brutality that was released in 2021 “based on a true story on social justice,” a press release from his office said. (MEATF stands for Multi-Ethnic Advisory Task Force).

The entire team of Jai Bhim including Justice K. Chandru (story), Producers Surya & Jyothika, and Director T.J. Gnanavel are being invited to receive the award at the 11th Congressional Global Community Oscars on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Yellow Box, Naperville, Illinois.

The MEATF & AMEC (American Multi-Ethnic Coalition) 11th Annual Congressional Global Community Oscars Awards Gala is hosted annually by Rep. Davis, which honors  international and community heroes “who have made a major impact in empowering our ethnic communities” the press release said.

The MEATF seeks to empower the multi-ethnic communities through social, educational, cultural, political, health, economic and youth initiatives . The American Multi Ethnic Coalition – AMEC “is a bipartisan grass-root level organization that strives to promote and protect ethnic minorities by maximizing every resource that we have for the good of our communities”, the press release said.

“I want to congratulate all of the award recipients because being selected by the Awards Jury to receive one of these awards is an indication that you have done outstanding work and made significant accomplishments to advance the quality of life and individuals across the globe. We invite everyone to acknowledge these outstanding individuals,” Congressman Davis is quoted saying in the press release.

The International Awards Jury was chaired by Martino Tangkar, an Indonesian-American, includes Dr. Mercedes Martinez, Hispanic- American, Dr. Fathima Alawsee, Iraqi-American, AMEC Lt. Governor Manne Lingaiah, Indian-American, Dr. Clarence Beals, African- American, and Sam Ma , Chinese-American.

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, DMK, Youth Wing President , State Legislator, and publisher and Actor Udhaynidhi Stalin from Chennai, India is awarded ‘The International Rising Star of the Year 2021’. The International Rising Star Award aims to recognize the outstanding work done by an emerging leader across the globe. Udhaynidhi will be honored by U.S. Congressman Danny K Davis in a star-studded awards ceremony at the 11th Annual Congressional Global Community Oscars on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Yellow Box Theater in Naperville, Illinois. U.S. Congressman Davis is extending a personal invitation to Udhaynidhi Stalin to receive the prestigious honor in the U.S., the press release said.

Award Jury Member Manne Lingaiah, AMEC’s Lt. Governor who made the announcement said that Udhaynidhi ‘s ability to harness the energies of the youth for constructive purposes particularly in nation building activities and political enlightenment got the attention of the jury. Udhaynidhi is currently a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency, Chennai, TN, India.

The 11th Annual Congressional Oscars Gala is expected to be an action-packed event “with mesmerizing entertainment , U.S. Naval band, U.S. Color guards , and a dazzling European fashion show” the press release said .
