Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’s new season has received a fantastic response. The show promises captivating performances by the contestants along with a lineup of mentors including Sachin-Jigar, Sachet-Parampara and Guru Randhawa, with Vipul Roy and Salman Ali as hosts.

This weekend’s episode is set to be extra thrilling with the legendary composer Anandji making a special appearance on the show. After performances by the contestants Parvathi and Ujwal to Kalyanji-Anandji’s songs Bekhudi mein sanam (from the 1969 Haseena Maan Jayegi) and Mere mitwa mere geet (from the 1970 Geet), Anandji, during the shoot, revealed an interesting connection with composer (Sachin)-Jigar Saraiya. He revealed that Jigar’s wife, Priya Saraiya, who has written and sung many hit songs for Sachin-Jigar duo, was his music student once.

Anandji said, “Many talented singers have emerged from my training camp, including Priya and Divya Kumar, who gained valuable experience through my Little Wonders show. Jigar’s wife, Priya Saraiya, has written and sung several popular songs like Sun saathiya (ABCD 2). That’s why, since Priya was my student, I jokingly call Jigar my son-in-law.”

For those who came in late, singers as varied as Manhar Udhas, Alka Yagnik, Sadhana Sargam, Sapna Mukerji, Sunidhi Chauhan, Jaspinder Narula, Shreya Ghoshal, Sudesh Bhosle and Javed Ali have also come from the Kalyanji-Anandji school and they have also had a hand in training or grooming Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu.
