Hanuman Janma Utsav celebrated in Lake County, Ill.

Hanuman Janma Ustav (Lord Hanuman’s birthday) was celebrated at Hindu Mandir of Lake County, Grayslake, IL on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, in the evening when more than 250 devotees showed up on a working day. They recited the ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ during the event, according to a press release from the Mandir.

Prayers were offered to Lord Ganesh, Lord Hanuman, and Lord Ram Parivar, with support from sponsors, by temple Pundits Anil Joshi, Radhakrishna, and Balaji Gopal.

Lord Hanuman Ji’s abhishekam was performed by saffron milk while chanting Hanuman Chalisa and Sankat Mochan Stuti led by Madhup Dhaon and Avinash. Homemade butter, Vada mala/garland, and Pan /betal leaves mala on which Sri Ram was written were used for Baby Hanuman Ji’s alankaram, the Mandir press release said.

Pt. Joshi Ji chanted Ram Stuti and gave discourse on the topic, ‘What we learn from Hanuman Chalisa and why Lord Hanuman Ji is so popular in Kali Yuga.’

“Lord Hanuman Ji removes all the negative energies from our mind and brings in positive energies to develop devotion and become service minded. He is the only God in this Yuga who comes rushing to assist you when you are in trouble, to rescue you when you are in difficulties, and to bless you with wisdom, braveness, success, and prosperity when you chant Ram Nama,” Pandit Joshi is quoted saying to the congregation in the press release.

He emphasized that from Hanuman Chalisa one learns the importance of devotion, courage, strength, and qualities that are essential for personal and communal growth and development. It also helps develop a deeper connection with one’s inner self and a greater appreciation for spirituality.

Bhajans were sung by Rita Patel, Uma Iyer, and Ravi. Devotees brought various homemade Naivedyam to offer to Baby Hanuman Ji. After Maha Mangalarati, the volunteers served prasad  to the devotees. Temple priests thanked and blessed all devotees for their active participation and volunteers for their dedicated services.
