Gangubai Kathaiwadi becomes first Indian film to rank #1 in global non-English films list on Netflix

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi premiered last week on Netflix, and within just 24 hours of streaming, the film was trending internationally at No.1. Interestingly, as we progress into the second week, the film has become the first Indian movie to rank No.1 among non-English films.

Starring Alia Bhatt, Gangubai Kathiawadi crossed paths with international films to reach the No.1 position. The international audience is appreciating the cinematic excellence created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali yet again.

The film Ajay Devgn, Vijay Raaz, Shantanu Maheshwari and Jim Sarbh among others and has music by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Dr. Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios), the film has already entered the 100-crore club.

In a related development, Alia excitedly posted on her social media an image of the note that Amitbah Bachchan sent her, praising her performance as “beyond magnificent” adding that he was short of words to express what he felt.

The actress is now set to go international too, with the shooting of her Hollywood film with Gal Gadot, Heart of Stone, to commence soon this month.
