Dr. Suresh Reddy officially sworn in as Trustee of Oak Brook, Illinois

Dr. Suresh Reddy, immediate past president of American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) was officially sworn in as a trustee of Oak Brook during a ceremony held on Tuesday, May 11  at the Bath & Tennis Club, Oakbrook, Illinois.

Justice Ann Jorgensen, presiding judge of the Appellate Court Second District in IL, delivered the Oath of Office to the new trustees, as Dr. Reddy took the oath on the Gita, Quran, Bible, and Adi Granth, according to a press release from AAPI.

Attended by family and friends, the swearing in ceremony was livestreamed on the village’s YouTube channel.

The retiring trustees, John Baar, Phil Cuevas and Moin Saiyed were given an official farewell.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Reddy said, “As a practicing physician, I will use my training and experiences to ensure that appropriate and effective health policies are approved by the board and implemented by our village staff. There are many expert doctors and medical professionals in our community. I will find ways to engage them through informal work groups or more formal committees if needed to ensure the safety of our residents.”

In his presidential address, Mayor of Oak Brook Dr. Gopal Lalmalani thanked the retiring trustees for their service. He presented them with a resolution plaque, service pin and an engraved medallion.

Dr. Reddy won the election to be a Trustee of the Village of Oak Brook at the elections held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Him, along with the other 2 winners, Laurence “Larry” Herman and James P. Nagle had received  “the three highest unofficial vote totals with 100% of precincts reporting in the election for three four-year terms on the Village Board,” Chicago Tribune had reported.

Dr. Reddy said he decided to run with Herman and Nagle because he believes the three of them can address the most critical issues impacting the village better than anyone else.

Dr. Reddy completed his advanced medical training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School and has stayed on Harvard Faculty for more than a decade where he had also served as Chief of Interventional Neuroradiology.

He is married to Leela who was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, and is the former director of Network Health Boston. They have a son, Rohun, who is currently doing his JD/MBA at Kellogg School of Management /Pritzker School of Law at Northwestern University.
