Dr. Anuja Gupta selected for top award by State of Illinois

Dr Anuja Gupta, a local business-women and community leader received the Illinois State Excellence Award at the Secretary of State building at 100 W Randolph Ave, in Chicago Aug. 2, 2021.

Dr Gupta was selected for the award for her impressive professional and community accomplishments.

The award was presented by the IL Secretary of State Jesse White and represents one of the highest awards given by the State, the press release from the recipient said.

Dr. Gupta is a physician and real estate entrepreneur based in Chicago, IL.

After practicing as a Cardiologist in the Windy City for 10 years she switched to pursue a full-time career as a Real Estate investor and developer. She has built a successful real estate portfolio and also been active in real estate sales and brokerage, according to the press release.

She is currently the Managing Partner of Verandah Retirement Community, a $43M senior living development in Schaumburg Township.

A recipient of several other awards including The Daily Herald Entrepreneurial Excellence Award 2020, the Cook County Asian Leadership Award 2021, 2020 and 2019, and The Daily Herald Influential Women in Business Award 2018, Dr. Gupta is passionate about serving the community thru various leadership roles.

She is the co-founder of the Women’s Empowerment Campaign Chicago (WE), a networking and empowerment platform for Indian and Southeast Asian women entrepreneurs in Chicagoland. She is also the co-founder of the Voice of Indian-American Voters (VIA) a non-partisan platform for civic engagement. Her other notable accomplishment includes being a board member of the ISKCON temple.

Dr. Gupta is married to Dr. Gaurav Kapoor a has one daughter.

She attributes her professional accomplishments to grit and tenacity that help her overcome successively bigger obstacles. Her personal motto is to keep challenging herself to be more impactful, the press release said..

Verandah Retirement Community is a pioneering retirement project designed to celebrate both Western and Indian lifestyles. “We wanted to create a home-away-from-home for South Asian retirees who are reaching their 70’s and 80’s and want to live in the Chicagoland area,” Dr Gupta is quoted saying in the press release.

The project has townhomes and apartments for living as well as a Clubhouse and Medical facilities planned. Currently about half the development is completed.
