Diljit Dosanjh to star in Netflix biopic Amar Singh Chamkila

Adding to its stellar line-up, Netflix presents the untold true story of Punjab’s original rock-star of the masses, Amar Singh Chamkila, who emerged from the shadows of poverty and rose to the heights of popularity in the 1980s due to the sheer power of his music. He angered many on the way, which finally led to his assassination at a young age of 27. The highest record-selling artiste of his time, Chamkila is still regarded as one of the best live stage performers that Punjab has ever produced.

Amar Singh Chamkila, a Window Seat Films production, is directed by Imtiaz Ali. Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra essay the lead roles and the music has been composed by A.R. Rahman. The film is produced by Mohit Choudhary, Select Media Holdings LLP, Saregama and Reliance Entertainment and will release in 2024.

The audience will once again get to witness the magic of a Rahman-Imtiaz collaboration after Rockstar and Tamasha. Adding to the excitement, both Diljit and Parineeti have lent their voices to some of the songs.
