Hasega India, toh padhega India (If India laughs, it will get educated!) goes the tagline of this film. The trailer of Dasvi, the Abhishek Bachchan starrer, is garnering a lot of buzz.

The social comedy tells the story of Ganga Ram Chaudhary, an illiterate, corrupt desi politician who finds a new challenge when he is put in prison: education! Now, passing Standard X (graduation from school) is his new dream. With a quirky wife by his side and a rough-tough jailor on his trail, what happens to this politician forms the crux of the plot.

The trailer sees Abhishek have a blast in his raw and rustic Jat avatar. Yami Gautam is a feisty IPS officer, while Nimrat Kaur is a surprise as Ganga’s wife with a taste for her hubby’s beloved ‘chair’, that is, position.

Looking strong in her IPS officer avatar, Yami Gautam’s fierce and fearless side makes waves. And Nimrat Kaur is all bored and confused in a demure, desi avatar, seated on the all-powerful neta ki kursi (seat of power) in the film’s posters.

Producer Dinesh Vijan says, “The trailer is a sneak-peek into the lovely world of Dasvi. Maddock Films has always backed content-based cinema, and this is yet another attempt at providing a wholesome family watch that entertains and enlightens. Abhishek, Yami and Nimrat have knocked it out of the park. Audiences will fall in love with all three of them by the end.”

Director Tushar Jalota adds, “Ever since we conceived Dasvi, it was clear we have a unique film in hand, one that tickles people’s funny bones and makes them realize there is magic in knowledge. I can’t wait for audiences to witness this special tale.”

Featuring many dialogues aimed at the gallery well as ethnic music, the trailer perfectly captures the fun vibe of the film.

Presented by Jio Studios and co-produced by Bake My Cake Films, Dasvi streams on Jio Cinema and Netflix from April 7.
