Cultural organization, IACFNJ, hosts Holi festival in South Brunswick for Asian American Month

The Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey – IACFNJ, in collaboration with Rotary Club of Plainsboro, South & North Brunswick, Indus TV and Ohmkara held their fourth annual Spring Color and Cultural Festival on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Woodlot Park in South Brunswick, NJ.

The festival was celebrated to bring out cultural diversity during the Asian American Pacific Islanders Month, and was attended by 250 people, a press release from the organization said.

For almost two decades, IACFNJ has successfully organized many events over the years, including picnics, Independence Day celebrations, Navratri Garba, holiday party and other cultural events to bring the community together.

Various local dance groups including Nrityakala Dance Academy, Rhythm Dance School, Mudra Dance School and solo performances from talented teenagers Shivangi Mohapatra and Sonaira Singh performed well-choreographed cultural dances from various regions of India in colorful costumes which were the highlights of the event.

The authentic Indian food stall with delicious items from Perces Indian Grill in Monroe, NJ were enjoyed by the attendees.

Local vendors displayed jewelry, clothes and other items on tables. The live entertainment and traditional colorful Holi songs were sung by the Ohmkara singers. And DJ Darshan of Desi Experiment provided joyful music.

The organization is led by President, Dr. Tushar Patel, Chairman Raojibhai Patel, Vice-Presidents Mahesh Patel and Mac Shah, Secretary Surabhi Agarwal, Treasurer Rajesh Patel, Joint Secretary Kirti Mehta and Joint Treasurer Dimple Patel,

Youth Committee Chair Niyati Patel, Event Coordinator Naina Goel, trustees, committee members and volunteers worked hard to make this event a huge success, the press release said.

Upcoming events of IACFNJ will be a summer picnic at Mercer County Park, West Picnic area on Sunday, July 2, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and India Independence Day celebration on Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Shree Swaminarayan Temple, old YMCA, 329 Culver Road in Monmouth Junction.
