Livingston, NJ — International cricket legend Sir Curtly Ambrose took to the field in a different way on Sunday, October 5, 2025, as he joined hundreds of walkers at the 4th Annual Let’s Save Ma Breast Cancer Walk in Livingston, NJ.
The West Indies fast-bowling great lent his voice and presence to the cause, inspiring fans and families as they walked a 3K route to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer education and screenings. Ambrose, known globally for his dominance on the cricket pitch, now turned his spotlight toward a lifesaving message: early detection saves lives.
Ambrose’s appearance brought a unique energy to the event, drawing cricket enthusiasts and sports fans from across New Jersey. For many South Asian families, where cricket is a cultural passion, his involvement created a powerful bridge to conversations about health and prevention.
He acknowledged and presented certificates to Let’s Save Ma youth volunteers, Anya Gadhvi, Aahana Agrawal, and Ritu Koppisetti (from West Orange) for leading fundraising efforts that provide education, resources, and hope to the community.

The Cause
The walk was organized by Let’s Save Ma, a nonprofit founded by Dr. Deval Gadhvi, a Jersey City physician and West Orange resident who is herself a breast cancer survivor. The organization focuses on providing screenings and breast health education to underserved women in New Jersey and rural villages in India.
South Asian Focus
With New Jersey home to one of the largest South Asian populations in the U.S.—and with South Asian women facing younger, later-stage breast cancer diagnoses and lower screening rates—the event carried added significance. Partners such as Sanskriti of New Jersey helped coordinate and bring families from the South Asian community to participate alongside Ambrose.
