Community organization Bharatiya Seniors of Chicago celebrates Republic Day of India

Bharatiya Seniors of Chicago, a community organization, collaborated with Mandi Theater which is run by Alka Sharma, to celebrated India’s Republic Day Jan. 21, 2023. The actual Republic Day falls on Jan. 26.

Plays as well as Bollywood dances and songs were the highlight of the program which was held at Rana Reagan Center in Carol Stream, Illinois. More than 900 people attended, according to Jayanti Oza, a member of BSC.

The Hindi play Panchlight (pronounced as “panchlait”) was enacted in a tribute to one of India’s foremost playwrights, Phanishwar Nath Renu.

Chicagoland singers Geetanjli Maru and Majhar sang Bollywood songs 60′ & 70 and and the performers and attendees enjoyed the Bollywood dances.

The program began with a welcome address by the president of BSC, and ended with a dinner.
