Clifton, NJ Seniors Celebrate India’s Independence Day

The Indian American Seniors’ Association of Clifton, New Jersey, celebrated India’s Independence Day virtually in Zoom Webinar format on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2020.

It lasted 3 hours and included patriotic songs starting with Vande Mataram as participating members waved India’s tricolor flag before their cameras.

Clifton Mayor James Anzaldi addressed the group virtually and thanked IASA for inviting him, a press release from the organization said. Mayor Anzaldi appreciated the Association’s activities for the community at-large, and wished those present a safe and healthy life promising to hold a live in-person event next year at City Hall.

Councilman Bill Gibson also joined our event wishing everyone a  happy Independence Day of India. He also shared his experience of being a Coronavirus survivor.

The Federation of Indian Associations’ past president and member Board of Trustees Anand Patel was among those attending. He thanks the IASA for its activities and thanked members for inviting him.

Local artists Priti Seth, Kaushik and Rohit Rana entertained members with their renditions of patriotic songs.

Secretary Harish Sanghvi announced upcoming programs and President Bharat Rana introduced all Committee members and thanked all those who attended including special guests and performers.
