CarePoint Health honors Dr. Hemant Shah, dedicating Auditorium and Community Center in his name

On August 7, 2024, CarePoint Health of Hoboken, NJ, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in recognition of the outstanding contributions of Dr. Hemant Shah, a distinguished family practice physician and philanthropist whose dedication to the Hoboken community and beyond also earned him a proclamation from the City of Hoboken. The facility has been named “Dr. Hemant Shah and Mrs. Ami Shah Auditorium and Community Center.”

“Dr. Shah’s enduring legacy and the profound impact he has made on our community and the world are truly commendable. The idea to provide funding to make this a newly modernized space came from Dr. Shah himself and CarePoint is grateful for his proactive kindness. It is our privilege to honor him with the dedication of this community center,” President and CEO of CarePoint Health, Achintya Moulick, MD, MBA, MCh, is quoted saying in a press release.

Dr. Hemant Shah has played an integral role in Hoboken, supporting a wide range of charitable causes both locally and globally. His philanthropic efforts include temple restorations and the establishment of a non-profit school in India.

Dr. Shah serves as an Attending Physician at CarePoint Health System’s Hoboken University Medical Center and Christ Hospital.

“Once you’ve made it in your career and you have done what you want to accomplish, giving back is such a simple way to pay it forward to future generations,” said Dr. Shah of his motivation to modernize the community room. “I hope to inspire my children, who are here with me today, and others to do the same because when we help each other we heal the world,” Dr. Shah said.

In attendance at the event were CarePoint Health Executives Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Rimmer, Chief of Staff and Vice President of Marketing, Strategy and Patient Experience Justin Drew, HUMC Chief Hospital Executive Nadir Ijaz, Chief Supply Chain Officer Jonathan Goldstein, Chief Financial Officer Shamiq Syed, Christ Hospital Chief Hospital Executive Marie Duffy along with other physicians and support staff.

Also present were Executive Director of the Hoboken Business Alliance Roxanne Earley, President of the Board of Trustees for the Hoboken Business Alliance James Runkle and Director of Community and Donor Relations for St. Joseph School for the Blind Migdalia Viole. City Councilman Joe Quintero stood in for Hoboken Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla and presented Dr. Shah with a proclamation on behalf of the city, honoring his many contributions.

The room is in use already for community needs that include pre-natal classes for expectant mothers, the New Mothers Support Group which meets weekly, American Red Cross blood drive events, the Good Dog Foundation events and many more that serve Hudson County’s residents, the press release said.
