Brooklyn Assemblyman Erik Dilan endorsed New York Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar’s bid to become New York City’s next Public Advocate, February 25, 2025. The Assemblyman, who previously served in the New York City Council, cited Rajkumar’s qualities of focused leadership and inclusivity.

“Jenifer Rajkumar has shown, again and again, that she understands the importance of showing up and listening. She is laser focused on the things that matter – quality of life and public safety, educational opportunities for all our children, protecting the well being and dignity of seniors, affordable housing, and expanding public health services. And she knows how to get things done by organizing and through the hard work of speaking up and passing laws that make a positive difference.”

“Jenifer is the right person at the right time – she’s the public official we need in this important office speaking up for families throughout our diverse five boroughs,” added Dilan.

“I’m thrilled to have Erik’s support in my campaign for Public Advocate,” Rajkumar is quoted saying in the press release. “His roots in Brooklyn run deep and he knows how to get things done in Albany and at City Hall, so this support is especially meaningful.”

“The energy and enthusiasm for our race is growing,” added Rajkumar, who switched from a race for NYC Comptroller to trying for Public Advocate. “Supporters throughout the city are joining us to bring energy and professionalism to an office that can – and must – be doing more,” she said.
