The Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA) in New Jersey, recently celebrated the Teej festival at Om Sri Sai Balaji Temple, Monroe.

The Hindu festival is observed by women to mark the arrival of monsoon and is celebrated with great joy and devotion.

Organizers said it brings the rich cultural heritage of India to the heart of New Jersey.

“This event was celebrated by members of the community with aims to promote cultural diversity and understanding,” a press release from BJANA said.

The event began with the traditional Teej puja, where BJANA women’s gathered to offer prayers and seek blessings for the well-being of their families and loved ones.

President of BJANA Anurag Kumar and Vice President Sanjeev Singh expressed their appreciation of the event.

“Teej is not just a festival; it’s a celebration of culture, tradition, and togetherness. We are proud to bring this festival to our community and share the joy and richness of our heritage,” they are quoted saying in the press release.

At the event, BJANA extended a warm welcome to everyone in the community who came and was part of this cultural extravaganza. Rajiv Akhaury from the Sri Sai Balaji Temple arranged the venue to make a deeper culture connect among community members, organizers said.
