The Indian American Community Outreach Advisory Board (IACOAB) hosted its 10th annual Diwali October 26, 2024, at Metea Valley High School in Aurora.

The event attracted more than 3,000 people, according to a press release from Asian Media USA. They enjoyed a colorful, and joyful celebration of the Festival of Lights, full of dances and music.

More than 25 vendors offered an array of merchandise, from traditional clothing to unique handicrafts. Food stalls set up by local eateries, more than a dozen nonprofit organizations   providing valuable information about their services and initiatives, and numerous dance troupes, were highlights of the festival.

Several distinguished guests attended, including Mayor Richard Irvin, Congressman Bill Foster, and Indian Consul General Somnath Ghosh. Elected officials from Aurora also joined the celebrations. The event was supported by the Mayor’s office, and local volunteers helped make it a success.

Chair of IACOAB Nitin Fuldeore expressed his pride in the event’s success. “This year’s celebration was a true highlight for our vendors and local community. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying fantastic food, unique products, and vibrant entertainment. We’ve created something memorable that brings people together and supports local talent and business,” he is quoted saying in the press release.

Traditional dances and music filled the air throughout the evening.
