Leading up to the Feb. 19, 2020, Democratic Presidential Debate being held in Las Vegas, and the Nevada Caucus Feb. 22, 2020, the AAPI Victory Fund, a PAC that supports Asian American candidates, held an early voting event Feb. 18, in Las Vegas with presidential nominee, Vice President Joe Biden. Six candidates are scheduled to participate in the debate.

The standing-room only event for Biden was attended by Ambassador Gary Locke and AAPI community leaders and voters, according to a press release from AAPI Victory Fund.

In January, AAPI Victory Fund, founded by Indian-American Shekar Narasimhan, chairman, and whose current President is  another Indian-American, Varun Nikore, endorsed Joe Biden as the best candidate to defeat Trump.

According to estimates presented by AAPI Victory Fund, there are 202,091 eligible AAPI voters, representing 11% of the electorate in Nevada. The organization notes that AAPI voters are one of the fastest growing groups in Nevada. The population increased 167% to 334,763 since 2000.

Organizers of the Biden event said there were reports that AAPIs heavily participated in the early voting in that state’s Democratic primary.

“The AAPI Victory Fund has been, and will continue to, actively work across the nation in battleground states and districts to restore our democracy,” the organization said in a Feb. 19, press release.
