As Savi trends at #1 in 21 countries, team celebrates

T-Series Films and Vishesh Films, co-producers of Savi, celebrated the happening of the film trending at No. 1 on OTT platforms in 21 countries. The venue was the new pub, Vario, and the ambience and food were outstanding.

Present were most of the crew of the film (director Abhinay Deo and producer Mukesh Bhatt held the entire team “responsible” for making the film what it has turned out to be and thus for the event itself), and leading lady Divya Khossla agreed. Dressed in retro pink with a retro hairdo, Divya was in a happy frame of mind despite suffering from fever and a sore throat. She attributed the film’s success to the director and producers and said that it was the first time that someone had allowed her to really get into a depth of a character and trusted her with such a protagonist’s role. She was thrilled that the film was a global success and thanked them for believing in her.

Abhinay stated that the film had resonated with audiences globally because they identified with a determined woman fighting against all odds to save a man who has been unjustly accused of murder. In actual fact, the title of the film, Savi, is an acronym for Savitri and the film was inspired by the Hindu mythological legend of Savitri and Satyavan. Quipped Deo, “I told many audience members to Google the story after they asked me why I had titled the film Savi. They were awestruck as they had not known it.”

But the really intriguing part is that writers Perveez Sheikh and Aseem Arora have adapted the story to Indian sensibilities from a foreign film that obviously had nothing to do with the Hindu legend!

Producer Mukesh Bhatt thundered that the film industry was over-dependent on stars and the vital lesson he had learned in 40 years in showbiz was that people resonated with stories and content, not stars. He said that he would rather invest in acting talent that was not necessarily of the top-selling variety and in good technicians.
