“There is a weird real-life connection between Binod’s story and my life!” says Aparshakti Khurana on his character in the Amazon Original series, Jubilee. The actor has taken audiences by surprise with a different role, far removed from his normal comic ones, in the series.

As Binod, who starts off as a worker in a film studio to climb the ladder to stardom as Madan Kumar, Aparshakti finds a tangy connection of his character with his real life.

He explains, “I started my career as a costume designer at the age of 21or so, but I always wanted to switch careers and work on television as a host. So, I had joined a television channel as a costume stylist and worked my way through and landed an audition as a TV host for a show. Luckily, I was selected and my journey started from there. And in Jubilee, too, I start my career as an employee at a studio, where I work as an assistant but secretly aspire to be an actor. So that little connection was a motivation to work on this role better. That’s what worked wonders for me.”

He also stated, “Every actor who has come to this city feels that he is not able to do the kind of work he wants to. But I never got bitter. And it was important as that’s when the journey normally ends. Good things stop happening if you get bitter.”

Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and created by Soumik Sen and Vikramaditya Motwane, Jubilee is produced by Andolan Films in association with Reliance Entertainment and Phantom Studios. The ensemble cast has Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aditi Rao Hydari, Ram Kapoor, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sidhant Gupta and Nandish Sandhu.
