Akshaya Patra Houston fundraiser to feature tribute to Lata Mangeshkar

Akshaya Patra, a non-profit whose motto is ‘Unlimited food for education’ and which is credited to be the largest school-lunch program, in the world, is scheduled to hold a fundraiser and gala in Houston, August 13, 2022, at VPSS Event Hall.

Akshay Patra Foundation whose mission is to ensure that ‘No child is deprived of education because of hunger’ (AkshayaPatraUSA.org) expects to raise more for the Indian initiatives through the Houston. In India, Akshaya Patra supports 61 centralized kitchens feeding 1.8 million children daily in 14 states of India.

The event will feature Sanjeevani Bhelande, award-winning playback singer and winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Season 1, with the the Sanjh Sanjeevani Musical Group and include a ‘Lata Special’ celebrating the life of late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.

Just $20 feeds a child for an entire school year, Akshaya Patra says, encouraging people to attend and/or give to support education of underserved sections of India’s population of children.
