Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan reunite for seventh film after 14 years

The film industry is abuzz with excitement as the pairing of Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar revives after 14 years. Bollywoodhungama states, “Known for their comedic brilliance and box-office success, this duo is set to bring back the magic of horror-comedy with their upcoming film, Bhooth Bangla. On Akshay’s 57^th birthday, the makers officially announced the film along with the first-look poster.”

Akshay Kumar shared the announcement on social media by posting, “Thank you for your love on my birthday, year after year! Celebrating this year with the first look of ‘Bhooth Bangla’! I’m beyond excited to join forces with Priyadarshan again after 14 years. This dream collaboration has been a long time coming… can’t wait to share this incredible journey with you all. Stay tuned for the magic!”

The film, like their 2007 collaboration, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, has horror, comedy, fantasy and supernatural elements. Produced by Ektaa R. Kapoor, it will be the most ambitious project ever of the duo. The film will reportedly go on floors by December with a start-to-finish schedule. Priyadarshan is said to be exploring a “new world of horror and comedy” with this film. Bhoot Bangla (1965) was incidentally the title of a comedy made by Mehmood, which had been a hit.

The new film comes in the wake—as it happens—of the blockbuster horror comedy, Stree 2, in which Akshay had made a fun cameo, and buzz is that Akshay will have a prominent role in the next film in the franchise. Meanwhile, Bhooth Bangla is expected to release in 2025, with shooting to begin soon. With this film, Akshay and the director will complete a 25-year association.
