Ahaan Pandey confirmed for new Yash Raj film directed by Mohit Suri

Yash Raj Films has been beleaguered by flops except for their big-ticket Spy Universe action dramas. And Aditya Chopra has recently decided on “empowering Akshaye Widhani (YRF’s CEO) and his leadership team to build creative partnerships with the most brilliant minds in the Hindi film industry,” as per bollywoodhungama.com. And the first director to be signed in the first film to be produced by Akshaye Widhani for YRF is Mohit Suri, who has helmed hits like Murder 2, Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain.

In turn, Aditya has also signed Ahaan Panday, cousin to Ananya Panday and nephew to Chunky Pandey, as the leading man in their new project that will be a love story.

Ahaan was signed as a YRF Talent about five years back to go through intense training programs devised personally by Aditya Chopra so that he is shaped to his best ability before he signs a big film with YRF. “Ahaan has been shaped by Aditya Chopra personally for years. He has been kept under wraps by YRF so that he can focus on bettering his craft. To the industry, Ahaan’s launch is by far the biggest debut by a youngster in the Hindi film industry in years and YRF is showing its intent to create a star out of him. The massive project that he has been signed on for is the Mohit Suri love story!” a trade source has been quoted on the portal.

Mohit Suri himself is from Mahesh Bhatt’s extended family and the “anti-nepotism” brigade might be up in arms again, but the fact remains that in the final analysis, only talent counts and YRF has also introduced complete outsiders in recent times, from which Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma (now in a sabbatical due to a second pregnancy) and to an extent Bhumi Pednekar have made it big.
