“One of the most exciting years in cinema for me!” is Ayushmann Khurrana’s view on 2022, in which he completes a decade in cinema.

The poster-boy of what is known as “disruptive cinema” in Hindi films, Ayushmann Khurrana is delighted that he will showcase incredible versatility this year too.

The young star says, “I’m thrilled about the range of characters that I will showcase to audiences in 2022! It is one of the most exciting years in cinema for me as I get to play an undercover cop in Anek, a doctor in Doctor G, and a Hindi film hero who, though perceived as a muscle-flexing star, is quite the opposite in real life, in Action Hero.”

Ayushmann, who has been honored as TIME Magazine’s one of the Most Influential People in the World, says that his slate boasts of supremely original subjects that will entertain people of all age groups.

He goes on, “It can’t get any more diverse than this for me and I hope audiences will appreciate and love the different avatars that I’m playing in these three unique films. I believe these three projects are disruptive and highly original scripts and I’m confident about them standing out. As an actor, I can’t wait to receive audience’s reactions to them!”

Of these, Anek releases May 27. The actor, who made his debut in Vicky Donor (2012), has acted in 15 films since. He has also sung in a few of them and composed songs (along with Rochak Kohli) in some films. He is thus the first star probably to make his debut in a triple capacity—actor-composer-singer!

Ayushmann’s successful films include Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Article 15 and Chandigarh Kare Aaashiqui with big hits in Bareilly Ki Barfi, AndhaDhun, Badhaai Ho, Bala and Dream Girl. This accounts for a score of 10 successes or hits (including Vicky Donor) of 16 or a box-office average of 63 percent successes. The last three movies netted over Rs. 100 crore in India.

The variety of themes in his films include stories on sperm donors, body shaming, prematurely balding men, impotency, homosexuality, transgenders, late parenthood and cross-dressing for professional reasons.

Though a Shoojit Sircar discovery, Ayushmann Khurrana’s professional career is handled by Yash Raj Films’ talent department, and a s banner, he has done Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bewakoofiyan and Meri Pyaari Bindu with them.
