Ahmedabad: The vibrant city of Ahmedabad recently witnessed a historic moment in the realm of arts and culture with the inaugural Dadasaheb Phalke Film City Awards held at the iconic Thakorbhai Desai Hall. The event, organized by Kalour Entertainment and Bombay Entertainment, celebrated the stellar achievements of Gujarat’s artistic community in cinema and performing arts.

The evening’s highlight was the special recognition bestowed upon Bhupendra (Raja) Bhatty, a veteran filmmaker and director, for his remarkable contributions spanning over four decades. Beginning his career in 1977, Bhati has been associated with esteemed organizations such as Doordarshan and ISRO, where his works reflected unparalleled creativity and depth. His groundbreaking 1990 TV serial Antarna Ekant remains a cornerstone of Gujarati storytelling, blending cultural nuance with modern narratives. Currently, Bhati is channeling his expertise into Pride of Gujarat, an ambitious international film project celebrating Gujarati culture.

Adding to the grandeur, the awards honored eminent artists who have left indelible marks in their respective fields. Among them were Hemant Chauhan, renowned for his soulful contributions to Gujarati devotional music; Osman Mir, a celebrated folk singer; and Geeta Rabari, whose performances have resonated deeply with audiences across the state and beyond.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Film City Awards marked a new chapter in Gujarat’s cultural history, spotlighting the state’s thriving artistic endeavors. By acknowledging both seasoned veterans and emerging talent, the event reaffirmed Gujarat’s position as a hub for artistic innovation and cultural preservation.
